Nez Perce Basket, Gray Catbird, and Wild Plums

I've painted birds, particularly, my whole life, and bringing them into a specific time and place is important to me. I achieve this with my paintings of Native American baskets with their indigenous birds and fruit. I photograph my own subjects as much as I'm able, then tune the light and shadow to create a dramatic scene. These are scenes depict quiet things, maybe old or worn, brought alive with the startling contrast of the plumage and bright eye of a bird.
