In the Eye of the Storm

For this figure study, I intentionally chose a vertical format and left a lot of dark at the top of the image. The original title for the work was "The Weight of the World", aligning with the heaviness of the dark above the figure. I realized the model's posture and expression was too calm for that title. Thinking of the calm as well as the darkness, I renamed the work what you see now. I remember, as a child, the odd feeling of calm when crossing into the eye of a hurricane with all of the turbulence and chaos just outside that small space.
